The Freud 1/2″ Mortising Bit (16-560) is designed to produce clean, accurate mortises, grooves, and dadoes with minimal tear-out. With a 5/16″ carbide height and 2-7/16″ overall length, it’s perfect for shallow mortising tasks, especially in plywood, veneer, hardwood, softwood, and composite materials. The down shear cutting action helps push wood fibers downward for splinter-free results, while deep center gullets ensure efficient chip removal. Coated with Freud’s Perma-SHIELD® for reduced friction and heat buildup, this bit is compatible with CNC, hand-held, and table-mounted routers.
